Woods Burger Kitchen

Portland Road, Worthing

  • Purpose:     Burger assessment

  • Good for:    Cool

  • Verdict:       The kind of vibey establishment that I'd be wary of saying anywhere actually needs, but Worthing could certainly do with. Maybe a small part of a minor resurgence of reasonable restaurants in a town which sits in the large shadow of Brighton, but a bonus all the same. The burger was hideously let down by the bun which disintegrated way too fast, leaving burger detritus to eat as finger food - which is a shame as whilst it held together it was pretty fine. I'm liking the two 3oz patty concept, despite not being new it's good, and the meat was well cooked. Salad, sauce etc. as it should be, cheese a bit anonymous. Poor skin on fries dropped the score, which recovered due to the beer selection which was good on craft beer including Motorhead Road Crew which was surprisingly good.

Virgin Upper Class

Terminal 3, Heathrow

  • Purpose:     Self Christmas Presenting

  • Good for:    Scaring the bank manager

  • Verdict:       Very nice burger, reasonably untoasted brioche holding together until the end, nicely textured patty - if a little overly medium, but still moist. Mustardy mayo with pickle and cheese worked well. Good looking and tasting chips and a bar to choose from including a couple of good beers (and some average ones). And a Comsopoitan.
