Apple's Burger Blog
I love burgers. This is a record of my burger eats for posterity, for when I inevitably die of burger related disease and/or obesity. Enjoy Apple's burger reviews, enjoy burgers more (responsibly of course)
Let this be a tasty warning. Enjoy !

Budapest Special #1 - Good Bar Good Burger

Kecskeméti u. 6
-
Purpose: Lunchtime sustenance
-
Good for: First Budapest burger
-
Verdict: At first glance, a promising sight - good looking plate of food not at all ruined by a serving of dresed lettuce. And whilst the paprika dusted chips were good, and the Dreher beer was internationally tasteless (other beers, wines and cocktails were available, but it was lunch), the burger disappointed. Between the industrial-like patty, dense, not particularly flavourful, the bun which was not up to holding together for the duration of the eating and the overpowering flavour of the caralmised onion chutney there wasn't a great deal to love. Pretty much OK, but that's all. There's a choice of cheddar or blue cheese, blue is almost certainly the better selection.

Budapest Special #2 - Zing Burger
Margit Blvd. 105
-
Purpose: Releif from endless miles of walking, and a burger assessment
-
Good for: Multiple locations
-
Verdict: Whereas I don't review chains, I'm consideing this a successful burger establishment expansion - or, "oops". The burger bar is alchol free ("aargh"), but luckily the eating space is shared with a Stifler bar ("yay!!!") - this seems a pattern, as there are other Stifler bars, at least one with Deep Burger associated. The burger itself was OK, the patty slightly better than GBGB, simlar in density but a little looser and slightly more tasty, the bun is dull but functional with good chew, and the toppings married reasonably. A step up but not the level I'd hoped for. Once again, good chips, and free sauces which is a nice touch.

Burger: Not the Pest, and to ruin an already dodgy play on words, not the Wurst.

Budapest Special #3 - Lucky Seven
Piarista utca 1
-
Purpose: Final Budapest burger assessment and rest stop.
-
Good for: First Budapest burger
-
Verdict: A fine looking burger and the best of the three consumed - the slightly larger patty had good texture and reasonable taste, held within a cheese bun which looked better than it tasted but did the job nicely. Again, sauce and salad went well so the best marriage of taste. Dipper chips were nice, and Dreher provided the liquid accompanyment - a range of drinks available, if only a couple of beers.

Burger: Best of a very small sample.
