Burger Craft At The Exmouth Arms

Euston (pop up, currently in two locations - Green Man Edgeware, and White Ferry Victoria, as of 26/07/2024)

  • Purpose:     Burger Assessment

  • Good for:    Beer

  • Verdict:        There's an interesting range of burgers, so I was quite keen to get stuck in, but                 the overall feeling was one of disappointment. On the positive side, the burger itself was quite nice, bit of beefy taste from the patty (possibly overdone as a medium), American cheese, nice red onion jam, let down by a nondescript brioche bun. On the less positive side the skin on fries were soggy despite being marginally undercooked, which is a trick. Back to an upside in the bad news sandwich, the beer selection is excellent and the service smiley.

  • Burger:        I'd like to check the others out, but probably won't.

  • Cost:            ££

Hawksmoor Bar

Spitalfields

  • Purpose:   Burger assessment

  • Good for:  Cocktails

  • Verdict:      It's a bar menu, so we'll forgive on the one cheeseburger on offer, with kimchi/ox cheek additions possible, less forgiving for a bar is no real beer selection, but some nice cocktails. Burger looks really good but didn't really deliver anything special, which is a let down given Hawksmoor's boeuf raison d'etre. Chips OK, all in all nothing to write home about, which is ironic as this is a blog.

  • Burger:       Disappointing.

  • Cost:            £££
