Smiths Of Smithfield

Smithfield Market, Liverpool Street

  • Purpose:     Torode Bashing

  • Good for:    Bacon

  • Verdict:       Having had a previous poor experience with Smiths in Spitalfields, which I won't bore you with the details of, I was looking forward to battering the outlet in Smithfields - but rather disappointingly will only be partially successful. The burger on the while was average, high points being the crispy bacon and cheese, bu OK, but meat patty pretty poor - although the meat tasted OK, the very rare nature of the really loose texture was offputting, especially as I'd asked for medium, expecting medium rare (unlike the French Toast you burnt last time, eh John?). Chips were fine, and it's a restaurant so although the house beer was OK there wasn't a great selection.

  • Burger:        Crumbly.

  • Cost:            £££
